The Bag of Tricks

Alan Kay says "point of view is worth 80 IQ points" - you might even be smarter, but if others have better tools to work with they might get better results. The time to learn the "tricks of the trade" is the best investment of the programmer.

Bundled Objects

If objects are about reuse, it makes sense to learn how to use the large number of objects that already come with Self rather than reinventing the wheel just out of ignorance. Many problems can be solved by just adding a little "glue" between several of the bundled objects. The fastest way to program is not to program at all!
